AIM The Right Way

A graphic with purple and pink shapes on it and text that says "AIM the right way -- checklists to ensure your youth participation is accessible, inclusive, and meaningful"

Young people identified three themes essential to youth participation and created the AIM The Right Way resource to support officials and decision-makers in designing and delivering participation that is:

  • Accessible

  • Inclusive

  • Meaningful

AIM the Right Way is a checklist, with supporting information, for officials to ensure they practice participation that protects, respects, and fulfils young people’s article 12 right to be heard. It is short, simple, and easy to use.

How to use the AIM The Right Way checklists:

  1. Download and read through the full checklists as early as possible in the policy-making process.

  2. Consider what the most appropriate type or types of participation is to take into account young people’s views.

  3. Go through the AIM The Right Way checkpoints when designing and delivering the participation work and ensure every point has been accounted for and considered, checking them off as you go.
